Christmas Double Day

Hi crafters!  It's time for another double day!  First up is a stained glass card.  I cut the Poinsettia Stained Glass in gold mirror card.  I attached it to a piece of coconut white card that had a sticky adhesive sheet added on to it.  I paper pieced the design by cutting the die out of the various colours used; gold pearl, brunswick green and white gloss.  I pieced all of those into place leaving only the red areas to do.  For those, I coated a piece of ruby red card with red Glitter Kiss and allowed it to dry.  I cut the die and used the sparkly red for the poinsettia and some of the outer edge pieces.  I added a thin white frame over the top of the gold mirror card edge as an accent.  The card was completed with white, red and gold mirror card mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 5 1/2" x  6 1/2"in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two features the Three Wise Men die.  I started by creating a Pixie Powder background for it.  I used Midnight Blue, Purple Violet and White Pearl.  I allowed it to dry naturally then used the background portion of the Three Wise Men die and cut it into the pixied background.  I backed it with black card, then cut a frame using the Twinkle Star Frames die for it.  I cut the frame in white and silver mirror card and off set them slightly and glued them together.  I added a white backing to the frame as well.  Due to the thickness, I had to cut the centre out of the backing first and then align it and I hand trimmed the outside edge so it didn't show.  I added mounting foam then added it atop the pixied background.  I cut the large star in silver mirror card and glued it in the upper corner.  For the focal element, I cut the wise men die in both silver mirror card and black card at the same time.  It cuts through the top (the silver mirror card) and just through the edge on the design on the black card, giving me a backing.  I glued the pieces together then mounted it inside the frame.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 3/4" in size.

Don't forget to check back later this afternoon as I will finally be posting the winners of the Autumn die release from the blog launch!!  All for now, Sue x

A Very Special Day

Hi bloggers!  Here is a card that I demoed during my last Hochanda shows.  I started by cutting the Classic Adorned Hexagons out of cobalt blue card.  I used one of the larger decorative dies and the two cutting edges with it to create a frame and I did two of them.  I backed both of them with vellum for a see through effect.  I offset the two frames and glued them together and set them aside until the end.  Next I used the smaller dies in the set and cut a decorative backdrop out of coconut white card.  I backed it with cobalt blue to show through.  Next I used the Stitched Pegboard Frames and made a multi layered frame out of coconut white card and attached it over the backdrop.  The frames cut earlier then had a platform to attach to so I glued them to sit across the edge of the frame.  For the focal element, I cut the Victoria die twice out of vellum.  I crisscrossed them in the centre and attached them with mounting foam.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Classic Adorned Hexagon and added a thin cobalt mat cut from the Double Stitched Hexagon set and attached it in the centre of the card.  The card was completed using coconut white card and cobalt blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello crafters!  It seems like a fair bit of time since our last card giveaway, doesn't it?  Today's card is a silver and white number with a paved pearl edge on it.  I started by embossing a square of coconut white card with the Snowflake Mosaic embossing folder for texture.   Next I cut the Snowflake Flourish and Corner die out f silver pearl card.  I cut four corners and four of the border flourishes.  I glued the four corners into place and connected the four border flourishes to create a square shape.  I mounted it in a diamond orientation in the centre of the card to a smaller piece of white card.  I cut the Let it Snow Snowflakes and attached it to the centre die from the Holly Lattice Frame die.  I cut a second one in silver and nipped it apart to provide a shadow for the sentiment.  I added mounting foam to the entire piece to raise it and added it to a wider piece of coconut white card.  Leaving about a half inch gap around the topper, I used that area for my Paved Pearl technique (see tutorial at the top of the page).  I used Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to create this, then added a double white mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing to win this card.  The winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

You Are So Sweet

Hi bloggers!  Aqua and white for today's card offering and probably a bit more like what you usually expect from me too!  I started by cutting the Columba Gemini die in to the sides of a piece of aqua card.  I cut a slightly smaller piece of white card and used the other die from the Columba to cut the edges so that they layered up and sat on top of the aqua card.  I also used the decorative die from the Jennifer and cut it into the centre of the white card between the edge die cuts.  I added mounting foam to raise it and attached it over the aqua piece.  I cut the Scarlet die in white and layered it up in the centre and added my sentiment with an aqua mat.  To the sides I made a Nasturtium cluster with aqua flowers added and an aqua dimensional flower in the centre of each of the clusters.   White and aqua mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x
